Black Angus

Characteristics

Black Angus is the black variety of Aberdeen Angus, a beef breed developed in the Scottish counties of Aberdeen and Angus. It is naturally polled and used both purebred and in commercial crossbreeding for fertility, ease of management and carcass traits.

The Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society standard describes compact, deep, well-muscled cattle. Adult references are broad: cows 600–900 kg and 130–150 cm at the sacrum; bulls 1,000–1,500 kg and 135–160 cm, reflecting the effects of genetics and production system.

Taste

In well-marbled lots, Black Angus offers full yet balanced beef flavour, gentle sweetness, good juiciness and a tender texture. It is a versatile choice for a premium steak with noticeable but not dominant fat: rib, rib-eye and striploin for grilling or barbecue, and mince for juicy burgers.
