Characteristics

Italian Red Pied derives from the upgrading of the historic Pezzata Rossa Friulana with European Simmental genetics. It is an Italian dual-purpose breed whose breeding programme combines milk production, functionality and beef value.

It is a medium-to-large red-pied animal with good body capacity and more visible muscling than specialised dairy breeds. Size is not a fixed commercial limit; in reference Simmental populations mature cows weigh about 550–800 kg and bulls 1,000–1,200 kg.

Taste

Pezzata Rossa tends to offer a clean, delicate flavour, gentle sweetness and a compact grain, with juiciness driven by finish and marbling. Choose it for broad-appeal menus and clients who prefer balance over heavy fat: loin and rump for sliced steak or grilling, topside for roast beef, and forequarter cuts for slow cooking.
